About Us

Mission Statement

Mighty Striders Running Club harnesses the joy that running provides and the power of inclusivity to create a safe place for children with special needs to excel in athletics. By establishing a community-based training program, children of all ages and all abilities will learn self-empowerment and expand their limits through running and a healthy lifestyle. Our ultimate goal is to create equitable access to sport and foster a team of belonging. 

Who Can Come?

Mighty Striders is a running program targeted at children with special needs in the Greater Charlotte area. Everyone is welcome regardless of ability level, and we are hoping to grow the team as much as possible.

What Exactly is This?

Mighty Striders Running Club is a local non-profit organization that was specifically created to establish an environment for youth with special needs to grow as athletes, develop a passion for running, and build their confidence. We are dedicated to improving the lives of our participants, fostering a love of lifelong fitness, and helping everyone expand their limits in a safe and fun team environment.

When and Where are Practices?

Practice will be held at Boyce Park in Charlotte, North Carolina, typically from 10:00-11:30 on Saturday or Sunday. For a more specific practice schedule, visit the Team Calendar and make sure to check for updates on the Instagram @mightystridersrunningclub.

Why Did We Start This?

Mighty Striders hopes to empower children with special needs through the sport of running and foster important values such as Teamwork, Inclusion, Respect, Confidence, and Persistence. Expanding quality access to sports is essential in creating an inclusive society.
